Technical Architecture

The RC-SCP-7000 is built around a layered architecture: a structural smart pole, an integrated power and protection compartment, an edge AI computing tier, a camera/sensor tier and a software platform tier. Inside the base compartment, REDCOAST.LTD’s self-developed power-management PCB handles AC mains input, surge protection (10 kA Type-2 SPD), 24 V / 48 V DC distribution, PoE++ (90 W) injection to upper-camera ports, and orderly UPS hand-over to a LiFePO4 battery module. Above this sits the edge AI gateway: a fan-less aluminum enclosure housing the REDCOAST carrier board, Jetson Orin compute module, M.2 NVMe SSD, NVR mainboard and a hardware video-encoding pipeline that ingests up to 16 camera streams.

The ANPR pipeline is hardware-accelerated. The dedicated ANPR camera feeds an ISP-tuned global-shutter stream into the carrier board, where a REDCOAST-tuned plate-detection and OCR pipeline runs region-specific models. Plate-read events, vehicle attributes (color, type, make/model), evidence images and short clips are pushed via TLS to the city VMS, traffic-enforcement back-office or REDCOAST cloud platform. Latency from capture to plate-on-screen is typically under 300 ms, enabling closed-loop applications such as access control, denylist alerts and red-light or speed-evidence packages.

The PTZ dome and any fixed bullets coexist on the same Layer-2 segment behind an industrial managed PoE switch. The edge gateway hosts ONVIF Profile S/T/G northbound interfaces so that any major VMS (Genetec, Milestone, Hikvision HCP, Axxon, or REDCOAST’s own platform) can manage the pole. The control logic also orchestrates auto-tour presets, AI-triggered PTZ slewing toward detected events, and pre/post event recording across both local NVR and cloud back-up.

Connectivity & Power

The RC-SCP-7000 is designed for urban and campus environments with reliable mains supply. Standard input is single-phase AC 100 – 240 V, 50 / 60 Hz, drawn from the existing street-lighting feeder or a dedicated metered service. Typical full-load power draw is 60 – 140 W depending on camera count, AI tier and connected add-ons. An internal LiFePO4 UPS module (256 / 512 / 1024 Wh) provides battery ride-through during outages — enough to capture, encode and back-haul incident footage when power fails, and to perform a clean shutdown if the outage persists. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G / 5G (Sub-6 GHz), gigabit fiber (SFP, single- or multi-mode), Wi-Fi 6 backhaul to nearby command centers, and PoE++ to all upper-mount cameras. Cellular and fiber can operate as primary/secondary with automatic failover for high-availability Safe-City deployments. Unlike off-grid surveillance towers, this product is not configured with solar panels by default — its deployment scenario assumes grid availability.

Protection & Reliability

Every outdoor-rated enclosure on the pole — power compartment, edge AI box, camera housings and junction boxes — is IP66 sealed, with IK10 impact rating on visible housings to resist vandalism. The pole is hot-dip galvanized to ISO 1461 and finished with a smooth matte powder coating (default RAL 7016 anthracite, optional white or RAL custom) for long-term corrosion resistance in urban, coastal and tropical climates. Electronics are rated for -40 °C to +70 °C, with conformal-coated PCBs for high-humidity and salt-spray environments. A 10 kA Type-2 surge protective device guards the AC inlet, and dedicated SPDs protect cellular, fiber and PoE lines. Lightning protection follows IEC 62305 zoning and is verified during the design stage. MTBF targets exceed 70,000 hours for the edge AI gateway and 100,000 hours for the LED status indicators, with an expected service life of 10+ years and standard 3-year warranty (extendable to 5).

Application Scenarios

  • Urban intersections and arterial roads: ANPR-based traffic enforcement (red-light running, illegal parking, restricted-lane, denylist alerts) plus PTZ surveillance of approach lanes — feeding city traffic control and police back-office systems.
  • Public plazas, squares and pedestrian streets: 24/7 Safe-City surveillance with crowd-density and loitering analytics, integration with city emergency response and tourism-district safety operations.
  • Industrial and logistics parks: perimeter and gate ANPR access control, forklift / truck movement analytics, integration with park management platforms and visitor systems.
  • Hospitals, universities and government campuses: combined ANPR for parking and gate control, PTZ for grounds surveillance, optional SOS call points along pedestrian paths.
  • Critical infrastructure perimeters: substations, water plants, ports and bridges — intrusion detection, fence-line monitoring, vehicle ANPR for site access.
  • Smart-city corridors: hosting public Wi-Fi, environmental sensors and EV-charging readiness on the same pole, evolving the streetscape into a multi-service smart-pole network.

Case-style Examples

  • Urban avenue Safe-City retrofit: a 6 km city avenue equipped with RC-SCP-7000 poles every 80 – 120 m, mixing 10 m PTZ poles at intersections and 8 m ANPR-focused poles mid-block. The package replaced legacy analog cameras and standalone ANPR cabinets with a unified, mains-powered, fiber-backed network feeding a single city VMS — cutting incident response time and supporting traffic-enforcement revenue.
  • Industrial park perimeter and gate control: a 200-hectare logistics park deployed 38 RC-SCP-7000 poles around its perimeter and at gates, with ANPR-driven barrier control at gates and PTZ-based intrusion monitoring along the perimeter fence. The on-pole NVR provided 60-day local retention with fiber backhaul to the security operations center.
  • Plaza & tourism-district safety: a city center plaza used eight RC-SCP-7000 poles configured with 360° dome cameras, edge AI crowd-density analytics, public Wi-Fi 6 and SOS call buttons. The poles were finished in custom RAL color to match heritage streetscape and integrated with the city emergency response center.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Safe-City surveillance and ANPR pole and where is it used?

A Safe-City surveillance and ANPR pole is a mains-powered smart pole that integrates PTZ surveillance cameras, an ANPR (license plate recognition) camera, an edge AI gateway and on-pole recording. It is used at urban intersections, plazas, tourist districts, industrial parks, hospitals, campuses and critical infrastructure perimeters to provide continuous video surveillance, traffic enforcement and access control on a single pole.

Is the REDCOAST.LTD RC-SCP-7000 grid-powered or solar-powered?

It is grid-powered. The product is purpose-built for cities and campuses where mains supply is available, with AC 100-240 V input and an on-pole LiFePO4 UPS providing 30-180 minutes of ride-through during outages. REDCOAST.LTD also offers separate off-grid solar surveillance towers for remote sites, but this product is not configured with solar panels because that would be wasted in urban grid-served scenarios.

Which license plate styles can the ANPR system recognize?

The ANPR engine supports multi-region plate libraries covering EU, GCC, LATAM, APAC and North American formats, including single-line and two-line plates, motorcycle plates and mixed alphanumerics. Typical accuracy is ≥ 96 % under normal urban traffic up to 120 km/h, and regional plate models can be added or fine-tuned for specific projects.

How does the pole integrate with existing city VMS or police back-office?

The pole exposes ONVIF Profile S/T/G, RTSP, RTMP and GB/T 28181 northbound interfaces, so it can be onboarded into any major VMS such as Genetec, Milestone, Hikvision HCP or Axxon, or into REDCOAST.LTD's own smart-pole platform. ANPR events, evidence images and short clips are pushed via TLS 1.3 to the chosen back-office in near real time, with latency typically under 300 ms.

What happens to recording and ANPR when the network or power goes down?

The on-pole NVR stores 30 to 90 days of continuous footage locally (4 to 32 TB options), so recording continues even if uplink is degraded. The LiFePO4 UPS keeps the cameras, edge AI gateway and NVR running for 30 to 180 minutes during a mains outage, then performs a clean shutdown. Once power and network return, queued events and clips are automatically synchronized to the back-office.

Is the pole compliant with GDPR and other privacy regulations?

The platform is designed to support GDPR-aware operation: configurable retention periods, role-based access control, audit logs, face and plate blurring on exported footage, and an option to run the entire system on-premise without any cloud component. Specific deployments must still be configured to local data-protection rules, but the technical capability is built in.

How long does deployment of one pole take and what is the typical lead time?

Lead time from purchase order to ex-works delivery is typically 25 to 45 days depending on configuration and order size. On site, foundation curing usually takes 5 to 7 days, pole erection and electrical connection 0.5 to 1 day with a 3-person crew and small crane truck, and camera + ANPR commissioning and VMS integration 1 to 2 days per site.

Can REDCOAST.LTD customize the pole for our country, climate or branding?

Yes. REDCOAST.LTD designs the edge AI carrier board, ANPR PCB and UPS PCB in-house, so we can tune ANPR for local plate styles, adjust the structural design for local wind and electrical codes, apply custom RAL colors or branding sleeves, and integrate add-ons such as public Wi-Fi, SOS, environmental sensors or EV-charging connectors. We work with cities and integrators worldwide and adapt the product to local compliance environments.
