Overview

The RC-ZOO-B200 is an off-grid, solar-powered smart bollard and pathway light built into a friendly cute-animal form (panda, rabbit, owl, fox, cat, deer and more). It is designed for low-height public play and walking spaces — children's playgrounds, kindergarten and school yards, residential community gardens, zoos and tourist parks — where decorative charm, child safety and zero-trenching installation matter more than tall roadway poles. Standing roughly 0.8–1.6 m tall, each unit blends a sculpted, UV-stable animal shell with a functional luminaire, motion-interactive lighting and an optional networked controller. Redcoast designs the LED driver, PIR/interaction logic and MPPT solar power board in-house on custom PCB, so the product is tuned to deliver soft, glare-controlled, fully off-grid lighting that delights children by day and lights the path safely by night — with no mains cabling, no trenching and no electricity bill.

Key Features

  • Cute-animal sculpted body in UV-stable, color-fast polycarbonate/resin over an aluminium core, with smooth rounded edges and no sharp corners for child-safe public use.
  • Off-grid solar power — integrated or top-mounted monocrystalline panel plus LiFePO4 storage; no mains connection, no trenching, zero running cost.
  • Motion-interactive lighting — built-in PIR sensor brings the animal "to life" (brightness boost, color shift or gentle glow animation) when children approach, then dims to eco-standby to save energy.
  • Tunable white + RGBW — warm functional pathway light (2700–6500 K) combined with playful RGBW accent channels driven by Redcoast's own multi-channel driver PCB.
  • Glare-controlled, eye-friendly optics — diffused shell and low mounting height deliver soft ambient illumination suited to spaces used by young children.
  • Smart autonomy — intelligent dusk-to-dawn light sensing, adaptive dimming profiles and 3–5 rainy-day battery reserve keep paths lit through poor weather.
  • Optional networked control — LoRa / NB-IoT / 4G node lets sites manage hundreds of units (scenes, schedules, color shows, fault alerts) from the Redcoast CMS web platform and mobile APP.
  • Tool-light installation — surface-mount baseplate on a small concrete pad or anchor bolts; a crew can place dozens of units per day.
  • IP66 sealed, IK08 impact-rated for year-round outdoor and high-traffic public exposure.
  • Project-customizable forms and finishes — animal model, size, color palette and interaction behavior tailored per site.

Technical Architecture

Each RC-ZOO-B200 is a self-contained edge node organized around three Redcoast-designed boards. The MPPT solar power-management PCB maximizes harvest from the monocrystalline panel, charges the LiFePO4 pack with full protection (over-charge/discharge, over-current, temperature cut-off) and reports state-of-charge. The multi-channel LED driver PCB runs constant-current tunable-white and RGBW channels with smooth PWM dimming for flicker-free, animated effects. The interaction/control PCB hosts the MCU, the PIR motion input, the ambient-light (dusk/dawn) sensor and an optional radio module.

In standalone mode the controller follows an onboard schedule: it senses dusk and turns on a low "presence glow," then the PIR triggers a brighter, more colorful state when someone is near, automatically returning to eco level after a timeout. In networked mode the same node joins a site mesh/cellular network and synchronizes with the Redcoast CMS, enabling grouped scenes, coordinated color shows across many animals, calendar/holiday schedules, remote dimming, and per-unit health telemetry (battery, charge, faults). The edge handles real-time behavior locally so units keep working even if connectivity drops, while the cloud provides fleet visibility and management — a true edge/cloud split.

Connectivity & Power

Power: The product is fully off-grid. A 15–50 W monocrystalline panel (integrated into the form or as a discreet top cap) feeds a LiFePO4 battery of 12.8 V / 12–40 Ah sized to the lighting load and local sunlight, delivering 3–5 days of rainy-reserve autonomy. A hybrid variant can add a small trickle from low-voltage mains or a shared community supply for very low-sun courtyards. There is no high-voltage wiring on site, which removes a major safety concern in children's areas.

Connectivity: For decorative standalone deployments, no network is required — units run on local schedules and motion logic. For managed estates, choose LoRa for low-power, long-range mesh control of large clusters, NB-IoT for low-bandwidth city-wide telemetry, or 4G/5G where a gateway-free cellular link is preferred. All networked units report to the Redcoast CMS for scenes, scheduling and fault management.

Protection & Reliability

The luminaire and electronics enclosure are rated IP66 against dust and powerful water jets, with an IK08 impact rating for busy public play areas. The animal shell uses UV-stabilized, color-fast polycarbonate/resin that resists yellowing, fading and cracking; the structural base and any metal pole use a hot-dip-galvanized substrate finished with smooth matte powder coating for corrosion resistance. Operating range is -30 to +60 °C, with optional conformal-coated boards and reinforced sealing for coastal salt-fog, desert sand/dust and high-humidity climates. LiFePO4 chemistry provides 2000+ charge cycles (typically 5–8 years of service) and tolerates outdoor temperature swings better than lead-acid. Rounded edges, low voltage and shatter-resistant materials make the product appropriate for spaces used by young children.

Application Scenarios

  • Children's playgrounds & amusement areas: Friendly animal bollards mark paths and play borders, light up interactively as kids move, and turn dull dusk corners into safe, welcoming spaces with zero mains wiring.
  • Kindergartens & school yards: Soft, glare-free guidance lighting along walkways and assembly areas; safe low-voltage off-grid design avoids cabling near children and cuts facility energy cost.
  • Residential community gardens: Decorative pathway markers that improve nighttime wayfinding and security ambience while adding charm; ideal for retrofits where trenching for mains is costly or disruptive.
  • Zoos & wildlife/tourist parks: Themed animal lights reinforce branding and storytelling, with coordinated color shows across clusters managed centrally for events and seasons.
  • Hotel, resort & campsite grounds: Whimsical landscape lighting along garden trails and family zones that runs all night on solar with no operating cost.
  • Greenways & urban pocket parks: Family-friendly path lighting in spaces beyond easy reach of the grid, deployable quickly without civil electrical works.

Case-style Examples

Community garden path retrofit: A residential estate wanted nighttime pathway lighting through a landscaped courtyard but trenching for mains would have torn up new gardens. They deployed a mix of panda and rabbit RC-ZOO-B200 units on small surface pads, configured for warm dusk-to-dawn glow with PIR brightness boost. Installation took under two days with no electrical works, and the courtyard gained safe, charming lighting at zero running cost.

Kindergarten yard upgrade: A kindergarten needed safe, low-glare lighting along its play yard and entry walk without high-voltage cabling near children. Owl and deer units were placed along the walkway with soft 3000 K output and gentle interaction effects, networked over LoRa so staff could schedule on/off times and monitor battery health from the CMS APP.

Tourist park themed trail: A wildlife-themed park installed dozens of fox, cat and deer units along a family trail, networked over a LoRa mesh for synchronized evening color shows during peak season. Central CMS control let operators switch holiday scenes and receive fault alerts, while full solar operation removed any trenching across protected green space.

Customization & Selection Guide

  • By environment: For high-sun gardens, a 15–25 W panel with 12–20 Ah battery is ample; for shaded courtyards or long winter nights, step up to 30–50 W panel and 30–40 Ah battery, or choose the hybrid trickle-charge variant.
  • By scale of estate: A handful of decorative units can run standalone on local schedules; for hundreds of units or event-driven color shows, specify the LoRa/NB-IoT/4G networked controller and CMS management.
  • By audience: For toddler-heavy spaces prioritize lower height (0.8–1.0 m), softer warm output and rounded forms; for tourist/branding use, prioritize larger forms, richer RGBW palettes and synchronized scenes.
  • By budget: Entry configuration is standalone solar + tunable white; mid tier adds RGBW + PIR interaction; premium adds networking, color shows and fleet telemetry.
  • By form: Choose from a library of animal shapes and sizes, or commission a bespoke creature and color scheme to match a brand or theme.

Deployment & After-sales

Units ship pre-assembled and pre-charged. Installation is surface-mount onto a small concrete pad or anchor bolts — no trenching, no electrician required for standalone units — so a small crew can place dozens per day. Redcoast provides layout and solar-sizing guidance based on site latitude and shading, configuration of schedules/scenes, and CMS onboarding for networked estates. Lead time is project-dependent and driven by custom form tooling and order volume. After-sales covers a warranty-backed reliability program, spare-parts supply, remote diagnostics for networked fleets, and engineering support for re-configuration or expansion.

Standards & Compliance

Designed and tested toward international norms: CE and RoHS for the electronics, IP66 ingress protection and IK08 impact resistance, IEC 60598 for luminaires, LiFePO4 packs to UN38.3 transport and relevant battery-safety standards, and EMC compliance for the radio modules. Material and photometric choices follow good practice for child-accessible public spaces. Specific certifications are aligned to the destination market on a per-project basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these solar animal lights need any mains wiring or trenching?

No. The RC-ZOO-B200 is fully off-grid solar with onboard LiFePO4 storage. Units surface-mount on a small pad or anchor bolts, so there is no trenching, no high-voltage cabling and no electricity bill. A hybrid trickle-charge variant is available only for very low-sun courtyards.

Are they safe for children's playgrounds and kindergartens?

Yes. The shells use UV-stable, color-fast polycarbonate/resin with rounded edges and no sharp corners, the optics are diffused and glare-controlled, and the whole unit runs on low-voltage solar power with no exposed mains. The product targets IP66/IK08 and IEC 60598 luminaire norms.

How long do they stay lit, and what happens on cloudy or rainy days?

Units light dusk-to-dawn automatically. The battery is sized for 3-5 days of rainy reserve depending on configuration and local sunlight, and adaptive dimming plus PIR eco-standby stretch runtime further. For shaded or high-latitude sites we specify a larger panel and battery.

Can I control many units together for color shows or schedules?

Yes. Add the optional LoRa, NB-IoT or 4G/5G controller and units join the Redcoast CMS web platform and mobile APP, where you can run grouped scenes, synchronized color shows, holiday calendars, remote dimming and per-unit battery/fault telemetry across hundreds of lights.

What animal shapes are available, and can you make a custom one?

Standard forms include panda, rabbit, owl, fox, cat and deer in various sizes. Because Redcoast designs the hardware and tooling in-house, we can also produce a bespoke creature, size and color scheme to match a brand, park theme or specific project.

What climates can they handle?

Standard rating is -30 to +60 °C with IP66 sealing. For harsh sites we offer hardened options with conformal-coated boards and reinforced sealing for coastal salt-fog, desert sand/dust and high-humidity environments. Configuration is matched per destination market.

Does Redcoast just resell off-the-shelf solar lights?

No. Redcoast develops its own PCB and board-level hardware — the MPPT solar board, the multi-channel RGBW LED driver and the PIR interaction/control board are designed in-house — plus our own CMS software, so form, lighting behavior, power budget and networking are all customizable per project.

How are they installed and how fast?

Units ship pre-assembled and pre-charged and surface-mount onto a small concrete pad or anchor bolts. Standalone units need no electrician, so a small crew can place dozens per day. Redcoast supplies layout, solar-sizing guidance and CMS onboarding for networked estates.
